Essure

Essure is a non surgical procedure for permanent birth control that is performed right in the comfort of our offices. This procedure has been trusted by hundreds of thousands of women and their doctors for more than 5 years.

Essure does not involve surgery, burning, or the risks associated with getting your tubes tied. The procedure works with your body to create a natural barrier against pregnancy. This gentle procedure can be performed in our office in less than 10 minutes.

There is no slowing down to recover, no hormones, or anesthesia. You’ll never have to worry about unplanned pregnancy again. (Essure is 99.74% effective), but please note this procedure is permanent and not reversible; therefore, you should be sure you do not want children in the future.

Essure is covered by most insurance providers and payment may be as low as a simple co-pay unlike the costs that can be associated with a hospital procedure.*

About the procedure
Your doctor will insert a soft, flexible inserts through the body’s natural pathways (vagina, cervix, and uterus) and into your fallopian tubes. The very tip of the device remains outside the fallopian tube, which provides you and your doctor with immediate visual confirmation of placement.

During the 3 months following the procedure, your body and the inserts work together to form a natural barrier that prevents sperm from reaching the egg. During this period, you must continue using another form of birth control (other than an IUD).

Unlike birth control pills, patches, rings, and some forms of IUDs, Essure does not contain hormones to interfere with your natural menstrual cycle. Your periods should more or less continue in their natural state.

*A follow up x-ray test will be required at a hospital 3 months after the procedure to confirm the fallopian tubes are completely blocked.
